Paid on Student Performance

I don't believe that teachers salary should be based on student performance. Student levels change between classes and that should not be the sole evaluation process for the effectiveness of a teacher. I think that teachers could get a bonus for high student performance- if it's just the class then everyone will get a bonus at some point. But, if it is really that the teacher has gone above and beyond they should be rewarded.

An effective teacher changes their teaching strategies to benefit the need of their students. The teacher should also provided multiple ways to evaluate their students knowledge. They make their classroom as successful as possible. This includes having a fair, supportive environment that student feel comfortable in doing their best in. The teacher expects a lot from their students and give them high goals to achieve.

  1. I like your idea of a bonus for the teachers who do prove they are doing a good job. It would be a good way to promote being the best teacher you can be which would also benefit the students and their education.

  2. I think you have some great points! I agree with having several different ways to evaluate student performance. Also when you do evaluate a student you have to keep in mind that it is a snap shot into what the student knows at one point in time. If the student is having a bad day that can affect how they act in the performance.

  3. I like your suggestion that teachers should get a bonus or some other reward for high student performance but it needs to be a little bit more difficult to achieve than simply looking at the performance of the students.

  4. Do you think these bonuses would encourage teacher dishonesty? In the news recently there was a group of teachers who were caught changing test answers on their students standardized tests. You all should watch "Freakonomics" on Netflix---an interesting show!
